“I am fascinated by the infinite variety of shell fragments to be found at the beach. Sometimes the simplest are the most striking and often contain complexity of detail. Often, one surface is polished and smooth while another is rough and textured, creating contrast and tension. Each has its particular style of beauty and combined create a compliment that cements the composition. The large scale of this sculpture gives a monumental feeling to a usually tiny object.”
