WOOD: Black Walnut

Making the Evolution Series has been an improvisational process. No. 5, as with the other works, has started with no particular concept in mind except for the importance of elegant line and a respect for the natural beauty of the wood. As each piece develops through refinement, concepts begin to emerge. This sculpture has such strength of intent that three descriptive words have come to me: Foundation, Direction, and Purpose. As with all of my artistic endeavors, I encourage you to go wherever your imagination takes you.
