WOOD: English Walnut

“This is the first in the pedestal series made from English Walnut. It follows the general form of the other pedestal pieces, but I made the upper part diagonal to the direction of the log giving a twisting feeling which creates a sense of motion. This also helped to produce the valleys and peaks on the top edge of the vessel. English walnut has beautiful contrasts in the grain enhancing the visual impact of the sculpture.”
